The built-in refrigerator that suits you best
Dimensions are very important for a built-in refrigerator. Certainly with a two-door refrigerator – in addition to the niche size – the height of the doors is also a decisive measure. Built-in refrigerators are standard available in niche heights of 88, 102, 122, 140, 158 or 178 cm. In addition, there are now also higher built-in refrigerators with a 194 cm niche. Also important is the attachment of the built-in refrigerator: door-on-door or sliding door guides. Please note: a built-in refrigerator that is placed under a counter is an undercounter refrigerator .

Niche size for installation very important
Because a built-in refrigerator must be mounted in a kitchen cabinet, the niche size is of great importance. The niche size refers to the height, which is made in standard sizes. The most sold are the 88 cm, 102 cm, 122 and 178 cm . In addition, models in 140, 158 and today even 194 cm are available. Finally, there are also various built-in American refrigerators available, which can easily be slid into a necessary niche.

Door-on-door and sliding door mounting
A built-in refrigerator can be mounted in two different ways: with sliding guides or with door-to-door mounting. With a sliding door built-in refrigerator , both the door of the refrigerator and your own kitchen door are fitted with hinges. The two doors are then attached to each other by means of guides. When the cabinet door is opened, it is then guided along the refrigerator door. Hence the towing door system.

With a door-to-door installation , your own kitchen cabinet door has no hinges and is therefore actually a shelf that you mount on the door of the refrigerator. The advantage of this is that you can set very accurately and you can be sure that the cabinet door will not shift relative to the refrigerator door over time.

Built-in refrigerators with decor frame
In addition to the built-in refrigerator on which you can place your own kitchen door, there are also a few (limited range) decor frame models available. This is often a system that you will find on older kitchens and where the refrigerator is used as a replacement model. A decor panel is only a few millimeters thick and is slid into the decor frame system – which is located on the built-in refrigerator door. This allows you to adopt the color and design of the rest of the kitchen on the refrigerator decor frame.

Difference between a freestanding and built-in refrigerator
A freestanding refrigerator is generally wider and therefore has more useful content. In addition, a free-standing refrigerator is easier and can be placed in more places in the kitchen. On the other hand, a built-in refrigerator can be completely adapted to the design of the kitchen, so that the design of the kitchen is not disturbed.
